FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
March 5, 2019
Concord, NH: NHGOP Chairman Stephen Stepanek released the following statement regarding HB 632-FN, relative to the education tax credit:
"This Democrat proposed repeal of our Educational Tax Credit program is a shameful attack on New Hampshire’s low-income families pursuing school choice options for their children. The scholarship program lowers the cost of education to taxpayers while enabling students to receive the education they deserve and need. In the current school year, 413 New Hampshire students have received scholarships as a result of Educational Tax Credits - a repeal of this tax credit program will force many of these students back into a public education system that already failed them."
"When it comes to education, we know that one size does not fit all - expanding school choice and opportunity should be the goal of the New Hampshire Legislature, while a vote to repeal the program via House Bill 632 restricts choice and harms our students."
(This statement was originally released on February 5th, 2019 but re-released today due to the continuation of the public hearing on the bill.)
