Concord, NH: NHGOP Chairman Stephen Stepanek released the following statement regarding HB 690-FN, removing the work requirement of the New Hampshire Granite Advantage Health Care program:

“New Hampshire Democrats love to make it clear that they are thinking in-line with ridiculous proposals being pushed on the national stage. This time, we have New Hampshire Democrats fighting to provide a benefit, health care coverage through the state’s expanded Medicaid program, to those unwilling to work. Sound familiar? This is a direct play out of New York Congresswoman’s Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’ “Green New Deal” that provides welfare and benefits to those unwilling to work across the country. The people of New Hampshire must ask their Democrat state legislators why they are so willing to provide able-bodied adults who are able to work with such a benefit?"

"The repeal of this work requirement is a dangerous start down the road of increased worker apathy as many will see those who don’t work with benefits from the government. While our state is desperately looking for new workers to fill many vacancies across different fields in New Hampshire, we should not be enabling those who can work a life of leisure and government dependence on the backs of hard-working New Hampshire citizens.”
