Concord, NH - NHGOP Chairman Stephen Stepanek released the following statement regarding a Republican amendment to Senate Bill 11-FN, relative to mental health services and making appropriations therefor, rejected by New Hampshire Democrats:

“Senator Tom Sherman rushed an ill-written, patch-worked bill through the committee and legislative process in the New Hampshire State Senate. While Republicans supported an amendment to the flawed legislation to implement the commission report for mental health, Democrats rejected the amendment as a block. The plan was thoroughly vetted by the Department of Health and Human Services, stakeholders, and mental health advocates, but the Senate Democrat caucus rejected this plan in order to push through their legislation. Republicans have long advocated for substantial and impactful reforms to our state’s mental health system; it is unfortunate, yet not surprising, that New Hampshire Democrats would put partisanship over the people of New Hampshire.”
