FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
April 30, 2019
CONCORD, NH - NHGOP Chairman Stephen Stepanek released the following statement regarding numerous Democrat bills that infringe upon the Second Amendment and Article 2A Rights:
“New Hampshire Democrats simply do not understand: New Hampshire is always among the safest states in the nation because of our strong Second Amendment and Article 2A community, and the legislation that Democrats are proposing will curb the strength and protections of our rights. The State Senate has an opportunity to re-examine these bills that passed the House along partisan lines and ITL these anti-second Amendment bills. Out-of-state groups are pouring large amounts of money into extreme left causes and to get out the vote for Democrats to betray their constituents and violate their oaths. The people of New Hampshire are witnessing this and showing up in large numbers at gun shows across the state because they know the Democrats in Concord are coming after their rights; thankfully, Governor Sununu and Republicans in the legislature will continue to hold the line and stop these deeply flawed pieces of legislation from becoming law.”
Bills being heard today by the Senate Judiciary Committee:
HB 109, requiring background checks for commercial firearms sales
HB 514, imposing a waiting period between the purchase and delivery of a firearm.
HB 564, relative to possession of firearms in safe school zones.
